"Gettysburg Eddie" Plank

Eddie Plank was one of the great left-handed pitchers in baseball history. Born and raised in Adams County, Eddie Plank played for local teams and Gettysburg College before being signed by Connie Mack and the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901. Eddie's storied career included over 300 wins and numerous World Series experiences. He then returned to Gettysburg in his retirement and ran an automotive business before his untimely death at age 50. This presentation covers Eddie's entire life, but pays special attention to his time in the Gettysburg area.
Lawrence Knorr has authored or co-authored over 30 books, mostly on history or biography. He is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), the Sons of the American Revolution, and numerous other historical organizations. He enjoys most writing about the formerly famous and his beloved Pennsylvania Dutch culture. He is a lifetime Penn State alum. He is the founder and CEO of Sunbury Press, Inc. and has been in IT for over 35 years. Lawrence has also been teaching at the college level for over 15 years, focusing on Business and Economics. Lawrence holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics (History Minor) from Wilson College (summa cum laude) and a Masters of Business Administration from Penn State (Beta Gamma Sigma). He is currently working on a Ph.D. in History with a goal of 2024 for completion. He is also a Certified Computer Professional, Certified Scrum Master, and Project Management Professional. Lawrence is a past President of the Mid Atlantic Book Publishers Association and Board Member for the Pennsylvania German Society.
