George Washington & The Battle of Trenton
Join LBG Ralph Siegel and Revolutionary War living historian and guide Kenneth Gavin for "George Washington & The Battle of Trenton" on Saturday, April 20th at 2 p.m. The dramatic Battle of Trenton will unfold as a lively, moving-map slideshow to present the officers and events of General Washington’s 10-Days Campaign, from the storied crossing of the Delaware on Christmas, 1776, to the pivotal street fight against the German regiments.
For 10 days in the winter of 1776, the Trenton and Bucks County area became the most important ground on earth as American Continental forces struggled to keep alive the infant War for Independence. “Washington's Crossing” may be globally famous, partly because of the famous painting, but the actual difficulties and objectives of that campaign are commonly overlooked.
To mark the recognition of Patriot’s Day (April 19), the presentation will include an expert demonstration of period uniform and weaponry.

About the Presenters:
Ralph Siegel has been a Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg National Military Park for 20 years. He established Trenton Battlefield Tours several years earlier to present a block-by-block walking narrative of the surprise attack. He is an originator of Trenton’s annual Patriots Week festival, now in its 20th year. He has led tours of Trenton for C-Span, ABC-TV, NJTV-PBS, Rutgers, Villanova and Norwich universities, for the U.S. Army Field Artillery Training School and for the American Institute for History Education – and privately for historians David Hackett Fisher and Rick Atkinson.
Kenneth A. Gavin is a living historian and guide who has provided programming at Valley Forge National Historic Park since 2008 and has also worked as a guide at Gettysburg NMP and Olde City Philadelphia. He is deeply interested in the American Revolution and that is reflected in many of his programs. Gavin has served on the boards of several museums and historic sites and is also an independent consultant advising historic sites and other non-profits on interpretative programming, site management, communications, and crisis navigation.
