Milroy's Wagon Train
One of the more deplorable and lesser-known incidents of the Gettysburg campaign was the chaotic retreat of General Milroy’s wagons from Winchester, Virginia to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Traveling at a high rate of speed, and under the delusion that the Rebels were in hot pursuit, the teamster spread panic and fear along the entire length of the Cumberland Valley.
