Dinosaurs and Meteorites!
Join us for "Dinosaurs & Meteorites!" part of our programming for Family Day on Sunday, April 16th during our Grand Opening Weekend!
In 1887, a strange object was discovered by a farmer near Two Taverns. After an investigation, it was discovered to be one of the largest meteorites ever found in the eastern United States. Fifty years later, strange tracks were discovered in slabs of stone at a quarry in northern Adams County. State officials and paleontologists quickly determined that they were created by an early dinosaur from the Triassic period. Join us as we discuss prehistoric times in Adams County and view some of the oldest items in our collection.
This is a non-ticketed, public event.
Our Grand Opening Weekend Event Series is presented by Amblebrook Gettysburg.
